Chelsea parts ways with manager Maresca

Enzo Maresca is no longer the manager of Premier League club Chelsea FC. The reigning Conference League champions and Club World Cup winners announced this on New Year's Day.

The 45-year-old Italian Enzo Maresca had been in charge at Stamford Bridge since the summer of 2024. The club is currently in fifth place in the league. However, Chelsea has failed to win its last three league matches.

“These successes remain an important part of the club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contribution,” the club said in a statement. “With important objectives still outstanding in four competitions, including Champions League qualification, Enzo and Chelsea FC believe that a change of manager offers the best chance to get the season back on track.”

Enzo Maresca ended his playing career at Hellas Verona in Serie B in 2017; prior to his time at Chelsea, he was a coach at Parma (2021) and Leicester City (2023/2024), among others.
