Müller on Wirtz: It would have been easier at Bayern

From a sporting perspective, Thomas Müller believes Florian Wirtz would have been better off joining FC Bayern.

The young star took an international step with his move to FC Liverpool, Müller said in the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “He would certainly have had an easier time adapting to football at Bayern, as he would have remained in the same league.”

However, there is also the media attention as a German national player in Munich, "which you get as a player when things aren't going well for you at FC Bayern," Müller emphasized: "You're in a constant state of turmoil."

Müller, who moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the North American MLS in the summer and reached the final with the club, now considers his move to have been absolutely the right one. "I really enjoyed being part of that team (note: FC Bayern) and would have liked to stay in the spring. But looking back, I can definitely say that the adventure in Vancouver has probably given me more emotionally as a footballer than a first half of the season with FC Bayern as a squad player."

Nothing was damaged during his departure from Munich. "We parted on good terms," said Müller.
