Roma is back on track under Gasperini

The Europa League group stage began on Wednesday, with the focus from a Serie A perspective on the clash between Nice and AS Roma.

After several turbulent years, Roma finally sought to bring calm to the club this summer with the arrival of new coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The 67-year-old had previously enjoyed great success with Atalanta, leading the Bergamo club to Europa League glory during his nine-year tenure.

At Roma, he's had a more or less successful start, picking up nine points from four Serie A matches. The 1-0 victory in Sunday's derby against Lazio was particularly impressive. Three days later, Gasperini's team followed up in the Europa League, winning 2-1 away against Nice. Defenders Evan Ndicka and Gianluca Mancini scored in the second half.

Red Star Belgrade – Celtic Glasgow 1:1
