Roma saves Italy's honor in the playoffs

Three Serie A teams, Atalanta, Milan and Juventus, failed in the Champions League playoffs. Now, at least in the Europa League, AS Roma has made it to the round of 16.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Roma beat FC Porto 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday. Paulo Dybala's double in the first half was decisive for the Giallorossi. Young star Niccolo Pisilli also scored for Ranieri's team in the closing stages.

Roma thus followed city rivals Lazio into the round of 16 of the Europa League, which will be drawn on Friday. In the Champions League, however, Inter is the only Italian team in the round of XNUMX. In the Conference League, two-time finalist Fiorentina has also already qualified for the round of XNUMX.

Heidenheim eliminated from Conference League

The European Cup adventure of 1. FC Heidenheim is over. In the Conference League, the club, which is in serious danger of relegation in the Bundesliga, lost its exciting second leg of the intermediate round 1:3 after extra time against FC Copenhagen and was thus eliminated. The 2:1 from the first leg in the Danish capital was ultimately not enough to reach the round of XNUMX and the associated further European festivities.
