The press celebrates the American "steamroller"

The USA celebrated a perfect start to the World Cup on Friday evening (local time). The 4-1 victory of the team coached by Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino against Paraguay has also made a powerful impression in international media.

USA

The Athletic: "The goals and the atmosphere ignited a true frenzy among tens of thousands of fans, many in red and white jerseys. Chants of 'USA, USA' echoed through the magnificent stadium. The first half was probably the best the USA has ever played in a men's World Cup."


Los Angeles Times: "It was a game that had been eight years in the making. The first World Cup match on American soil in more than a generation, and the start of a tournament that has the potential to fundamentally change the development of soccer in this country for the next generation.
