France's superstar Kylian Mbappé suffered a broken nose in the 1-0 win against Austria. It is unclear when the world's best footballer will be able to play again, but he himself is taking it with humor.

The French association confirmed the injury on Tuesday night after an examination at the University Hospital in Düsseldorf. However, an operation is not planned for the time being. The French captain will be treated "in the next few days" and a face mask will be made so that the 25-year-old can play again quickly.

To the expensive opening victory against Austria France will play its second group match next Friday in Leipzig against the Netherlands. It was initially unclear whether Mbappé would be ready to play again by then. The striker himself apparently took the injury with humor. "Ideas for masks?" Mbappé wrote at night on X, with a smiley.
