Merano overwhelms the second-placed team
After their decisive victory against champions Zell am See, HC Meran has mastered another tough challenge in the Alps Hockey League with flying colors.

On the surprising triumph over the Zell am See polar bears Merano made another statement on Friday evening. In front of 473 spectators, HC Merano spoiled KHL Sisak's plans and prevented the Croatians from climbing to the top of the table – with a resounding 4-0 victory. This marked the second consecutive win for the South Tyrolean team, moving them up to 10th place in the standings.
Merano got off to a perfect start against the second-placed team, who arrived brimming with confidence after four consecutive wins. Samuel Claesson opened the scoring after just four minutes, and three minutes later Filip Crusman added a second on the power play to make it 2-0. Before the end of the first period, Giovanni Mandruzzato increased the lead to 3-0, giving his team hope of victory after just fifteen minutes.
Bernard holds the zero tight
As the game progressed, KHL Sisak increasingly took the initiative, but goaltender Andreas Bernard put in a strong performance and didn't allow a single goal. In the final period, David Gellon scored another power-play goal to seal a 4-0 victory and a well-deserved home win. HC Meran's next game is this coming Friday against Jesenice (7:00 PM).Alps Hockey League – the results
