Racist incident: Merano apologizes

Several weeks ago, a racist incident occurred during the match between HC Meran and the Red Bull Juniors. The Meran team responded with stadium bans and also had to pay a fine.

As the Alps Hockey League announced in a press release on Thursday, HC Meran must pay a fine. The league did not disclose the amount. "The league and HC Meran condemn the racist incident," the statement reads. It also emphasizes their active commitment to combating racism, xenophobia, and discrimination.

An incident occurred during the match between South Tyrol and Salzburg II on November 20th. During the post-match handshake, Salzburg's Moussa Hackert was apparently racially abused by Merano fans. The AlpsHL subsequently launched an investigation, which has now been concluded.
