Setback for Cavs: Season over for key player

The Unterland Cavaliers are languishing at the bottom of the Alps Hockey League (AlpsHL) standings. To make matters worse, they now have to do without a key player.

As the club announced on Wednesday, Davide Girardi will miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury. The 21-year-old was, along with Gabriel Galassiti, the top home-based scorer for the Cavaliers this season. In 17 games, he scored three goals and provided six assists. Now the Cavaliers must find their way out of their slump without their homegrown talent.

Girardi is the second prominent player to be sidelined for Unterland, following Moritz Kaufmann. Kaufmann has yet to play a game this season due to a cruciate ligament injury.
