Setback for Cavs: Kaufmann out for a long time

The Unterland Cavaliers suffered a setback one month before their Alps Hockey League debut. Veteran Moritz Kaufmann is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.

"Our striker Moritz Kaufmann suffered a partial cruciate ligament rupture during the summer break and will therefore be out until at least December," the club wrote on social media. "We wish Moritz a speedy recovery and all the best!" This is a setback for the Cavaliers, as the 22-year-old is one of the team's most important players. He scored 118 points (77 goals) in 32 games, and in 2022, he also won the Italian Hockey League with Unterland.

Kaufmann was only given a new contract at the end of April. However, the center forward will be able to begin his sixth season with the Cavaliers only later.
