The Broncos are going through a difficult time

Things continue to go badly for the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan in the Alps Hockey League. The blue-and-whites suffered another defeat on Wednesday.

Despite a 46-37 shot advantage, the Wipptal Broncos lost 1-3 to EC Bregenzerwald on Wednesday evening. It was the fifth consecutive defeat for the team from Sterzing, leaving the Broncos third from bottom in the standings.

The visitors took the lead in Vorarlberg after just five minutes. Following a beautiful assist from Zandegiacomo, James Livingston scored in the slot to make it 1-0 for the Broncos. Almost out of nowhere, the Wälder equalized three minutes later: Philipp Metzler scored with a slapshot. In the second period, Robert Lipsbergs powered through and scored a textbook goal to give the fourth-placed team the lead.

Although the Broncos regained control towards the end of the second period, it was the Vorarlberg team celebrating again: In the 39th minute, ECB capitalized on a counterattack and extended their lead to 3-1. In the final period, the visitors lost their composure, receiving a total of five two-minute penalties and a match penalty for captain Paul Eisendle.
