Zell am See strikes back

With a confident 4-0 victory in Jesenice, the Zeller Eisbären equalized the final series of the Alps Hockey League on Tuesday.

The EK Zeller Eisbären celebrated a 4-0 victory in Jesenice on Tuesday in the second final game of the Alps Hockey League, leveling the best-of-7 series. Nick Huard scored two goals for the visitors, and goalie Max Zimmermann recorded his second shutout of the current playoffs. The third game will take place on Thursday in Zell am See.


In front of nearly 2.000 spectators, it took just twelve seconds for Zell am See to take the lead. Christian Jennes put the puck in front of the net, and Aljaz Predan shoved it over the line. Jesenice were on equal footing, but the visitors proved more efficient.

Polar bears don't let anything burn

Shortly before the end of the period, the Pinzgau team established a strong offensive presence. McLeod first tried a solo effort, then passed to Nick Huard, who made it 2-0 with a direct shot. Zell am See increased the lead early in the middle period, with Huard firing into the far corner. The regular season winners now had the game under control.

Jesenice failed to capitalize on three power plays, and the Slovenians pulled goalie Zan Us in the 55th minute to replace another skater. Kilian Rappolt made it 4-0 with an empty-netter, and goalie Max Zimmermann recorded his second shutout of the current playoffs. The third game will take place on Thursday in Zell am See.
