Sigh of relief in Sterzing: The most important player remains

He has not only attracted interest from his competitors in the Alps Hockey League, but has also attracted attention beyond. But as of today, it's been confirmed: Dominik Groh will remain with the Wipptal Broncos.

Dominik Groh will continue to defend the Broncos' defense next season. The 27-year-old Czech, who previously played for the ICE, has extended his contract until 2026.

When Jakob Rabanser tore his Achilles tendon last summer and was subsequently sidelined for the entire championship, the Fuggerstadt team's sporting management had to react quickly and ultimately chose Dominik Groh. After a mixed preseason, the Eastern European quickly raised his game and developed into one of the best goaltenders in the Alps Hockey League.

In the regular season, Groh saved 92,1% of all shots and defused a total of over 1.100 shots (the second-best mark in the league). But that wasn't enough, as he truly excelled in the playoffs, leading his Wild Horses to the semifinals against the eventual champions from Zell am See with a save percentage of 93,5%. Groh aims to repeat these performances next season in Sterzing.
