The legionnaires leave: upheaval in Val Gardena

After a mixed season, HC Gherdëina officials are busy putting together a new roster. One thing is already clear: a fresh start is imminent in the Valley of Woodcarvers.

The Furies announced Brad McGowan's departure last Saturday. On Tuesday, they also said goodbye to five more foreign players: Jordan Di Cicco, Karter Prosofsky, Vili Laitinen, Henri Mustonen, and Emil Oksanen will no longer play for HCG in the new season. The departure had been looming, especially since none of the aforementioned players made a lasting impression.

The most convincing player was Oksanen, a late signing who collected 20 points in 18 games, but was also hampered by injuries. Meanwhile, Laitinen, Mustonen, Di Cicco, and Prosofsky were unable to provide the Ladin defense with the desired stability. Where the quintet will head next is unclear. Sacha Guimond, a foreign player, is already under contract with the Furies.
