The Kings are warming up for the playoffs

Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers – that's the name of a first-round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs. A dress rehearsal between the two teams took place on Monday at Rogers Place.

Los Angeles made a big statement and celebrated a 5-0 victory with five multi-point players and two match winners named Adrian Kempe (one goal, two assists) and Kevin Fiala.

The Swiss, who had already assisted the Kings' second goal, scored with a brilliant slap shot to make it 4-0. For the 28-year-old from St. Gallen, it was his fifth goal in his last three games and his 35th of the season. Fiala thus ties Timo Meier (35 goals in 2021/22) and Nico Hischier (35 goals in 2024/25) for the second-most goals by a Swiss player in a single season. Meier holds the record with 40 goals in the 2022/23 season.

Edmonton's title hopes, however, suffered a setback with the home defeat – even though the Oilers were significantly weakened. They are now hoping for a real boost at the start of the playoffs with the return of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Co.
