It was the scene that ended an otherwise fair South Tyrolean derby between Bozen and Pustertal Shortly before the end, Pustertal's Mikael Frycklund sent his opponent Brad McClure into the boards with a nasty check from behind. The Bolzano attacker remained lying on the ice, writhing in pain, had to be taken to the locker room, but fortunately was able to play again in the final minutes.
Frycklund, on the other hand, was sent to the showers by the referees. This check now has repercussions for the Italian-Swede. Frycklund was banned from playing for three games, and the 31-year-old must also pay a fine of 750 euros. The Pusterer was banned for two match days for the attack and another because he is a repeat offender.
Frycklund now has to watch the away game against Olimpija Ljubljana (Wednesday, January 8th), the home game against Klagenfurt (Friday, January 10th) and the home match against Fehervar AV19 (Sunday, January 12th). The Scandinavian will be able to play again against the Black Wings Linz on January 15th in the Intercable Arena.
