For the playoffs: Bozen fishes in Asiago

What has long been rumored is now certain: Immediately before the start of the playoffs, Bolzano has signed an offensive player from Asiago.

The HCB Südtirol Alperia officially announced on Monday afternoon that an agreement on the signing of the Italian international Nick Saracino The striker will strengthen the team for the rest of the season. The 32-year-old is temporarily moving from Asiago to the Talfer city on loan.


Saracino is a striker with a keen eye for goal who can play as both a center and a winger. The current season was his best regular season in terms of points: In 37 games, Saracino scored 15 goals and 22 assists. The Foxes' new attacker, who was still on the ice with Asiago in Salzburg on Sunday, will be available to coach Glen Hanlon from Tuesday.

The career

After his college years in the NCAA, Saracino made his AHL debut in 2015. Until 2021, he played alternately in the second-highest North American league (78 games, 18 points) and the ECHL (183 games, 147 points). In 2021, his European adventure began with a move to HKM Zvolen in Slovakia, where he demonstrated his qualities as a goalscorer and collected 61 points (39 goals, 22 assists) in 17 games.

A year later, he moved to Asiago to play with the "Giallorossi" in the ICEHL. In three seasons and 97 games, he was always one of his team's top scorers, scoring 33 goals and 46 assists. That season, he also made his debut for the Italian national team under coach Jukka Jalonen and played five friendly matches, in which he scored one goal and one assist.
