One month after brutal foul: Daniel Frank is feeling better

It was on January 25th when Daniel Frank was brutally struck down on the ice of the Bozen Sparkasse Arena. After that, there was a long silence about the Foxes captain. Now he is slowly on the road to recovery, although ice hockey is not (yet) an option.

A month ago, the 49th minute of the duel between Bozen and Fehervar was underway when Daniel Frank was knocked down by Cameron Gaunce. The Fehervar star rammed his shoulder into the Bozen player's head without the latter seeing him rushing towards him out of the corner of his eye. Frank hit the ice with his face and a bleeding wound immediately opened up. A short time later, the all-clear was given in hospital.

Although Frank was immediately responsive and could move all parts of his body without restriction, the following weeks were not easy for him. Frank had headaches, dizziness and was sensitive to light. But the 30-year-old from Merano knows how to deal with such situations; after all, this is already the eighth (!) concussion in his career as a professional athlete.

Daniel Frank had to be taken off the ice in the home game against Fehervar.

The many head injuries, some of which have severe consequences, have always been considered the brutal dark side of ice hockey. Time and again, they bring careers to an abrupt end. But Daniel Frank is a fighter who doesn't give up easily. After recently spending a lot of time at home, staying in bed, he is now working his way back into competitive sport step by step.

Comeback this season?

The striker is already carefully training to get fit again, but a return to the ice is not yet in the cards. First, the training load needs to be increased gradually while remaining free of symptoms. If that succeeds, a comeback for the crowd favorite during the playoffs cannot be ruled out.
