There's something unusual about what's happening at the Sparkasse Arena these days. From late morning into the afternoon, the team locker rooms, the gym, the massage table, and, of course, the ice are bustling. 28 national team players and two dozen coaches, physiotherapists, and support staff are preparing for the B World Championship. But one player is missing: Daniel Frank. Ice hockey at the Bolzano ice rink without him – unimaginable, really.
The Blue Team will embark on their mission to advance to the World Cup in Romania (April 27 to May 3) without their former captain. Frank was not included in the World Cup squad. He had a mixed season with the Foxes, marked by the effects of a severe concussion. These have now been overcome, and the captain returned with a goal in the semifinal against Salzburg. "I'm fit again," the 31-year-old told SportNews.
“Now we are looking ahead” Daniel frank
The past weeks and months haven't gone according to plan for him in many ways, Frank reports, but "now I'm looking forward. I started dryland training again last week. I want to be in top shape for HC Bozen. I'm already looking forward to the Champions Hockey League in August."

While Frank's future with the national team is uncertain, he can be equally certain of his standing with the Foxes. His contract extension is considered a formality. The search for a new head coach is proving more difficult for the club's executives. A shortlist of candidates is now said to be in place. "I'm sure Dieter Knoll will make the right choice," said Frank.
After the holiday things really get going
With the departure of Cole Hults The Foxes announced their first transfer announcement on Tuesday. With the appointment of a new coach and the confirmation of the long-standing core team, effective preparations for the new season will begin at Galvani-Straße.Before that, Frank will also treat himself to some time off. "In May, I'm going on vacation with my girlfriend, discovering new things, and really clearing my head," reveals the Bolzano native with a grin. Then, in a more serious tone, he adds: "When I get back, I'll really tighten the reins!"
