Third away win: Only one win separates Ritten from the title

In the packed Leitner Solar Arena, both coaches were able to send their best formations into the race. Ritten coach Wilson even had the luxury of sending a surplus transfer card player, Urquhart, into the stands. His counterpart Richer rebuilt the defensive blocks and had helpers act in pairs with Mair, Hofer with Campbell and Borgatello with Glira.

After some initial testing, momentum came into the game with the first power play. When Bona was sitting in the “cooler”, Ramsey converted the numerical superiority into 1-0 for Ritten. The visiting captain hit the top corner with a shot from the blue line, securing his first goal in the final. In return, the Wolves were given the chance to strike back in the power play. However, with one more man on the ice, they only recorded one shot on goal. Wilson's protégés were more hardened and increased their lead to 16-2 in the 0th minute. Sidall completed a quick counter move with a powerful wrist shot. In the second outnumbered situation, however, the HCP did much better: Borgatello served the completely unmarked Campbell, who scored to make it 1-2.

Pustertal doesn't give up But the horror didn't end there for the approximately 2.000 fans of the yellow-blue team, because the middle period was only a minute old and Ritten was already in the lead by two goals. Ansoldi played to Rissmiller, who was left criminally alone, who maneuvered the puck over the line to make it 3-1. Just moments later, it was Rissmiller again who missed the visitors' fourth goal after a solo effort. This was in the air again a little later when Daccordo intercepted a Sirianni pass and put Scelfo in the spotlight. However, the Ritten striker failed in a one-on-one with Aubin. However, Pustertal never gave up and tried to fight back into the game. That also worked, because in the 32nd minute Oberrauch scored from a rebound to make it 2-3. Now there was real tension again in the Bruneck cauldron.

Ritten smarter

Especially when the Wolves threw everything forward again at the beginning of the final third. Mason was now under constant fire in places. However, the Rittner goalie withstood the pressure - even when the HCP had the majority. On the other hand, Ritten repeatedly showed off his killer instinct. This happened in the 50th minute when Siddall hit the mark from close range. At this point the Rittners were in the majority. After that the game got harder and harder. This primarily benefited the guests, as Pustertal was no longer able to play its game and score the next goal. The third home defeat in this final series could no longer be avoided for Richer's troops. Ritten now has the first match puck in its home stadium on Thursday.

Third away win: Only one win separates Ritten from the title

The incredible away series also continued in the fifth final game for the Italian championship title. The “Rittner Buam” won 4-2 at the end of a disjointed game in Bruneck and now have their first match puck on Thursday. The Wolves have to lick their wounds after their third home defeat.
