World Athletics Championships: Trentino woman wins silver

At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Italy has already celebrated a successful start on the first day of competition.

Antonella Palmisano She won silver in the 35km race walk, the Azzurri's first medal at these World Championships. For the Tokyo 2021 Olympic champion, it was further proof of her international prowess, even though there was no way around Spain's Maria Perez this time. Despite stomach problems and cramps, Palmisano battled through the Tokyo heat to the finish line and was greeted by her great friend and rival Perez. Paula Milena Torres of Ecuador took bronze.


The Nadia Battocletti from Cles in Trentino, who delivered a sensational race in the 10.000-meter final. With a furious final lap, the Trentino native stormed to the silver medal, improving the Italian record and proving that she is undoubtedly among the world's best. Gold went to Beatrice Chebet (Kenya), and bronze went to Gudaf Tsegay (Ethiopia).

The Italian delegation also looked forward with great excitement to Leonardo FabbriThe shot putter arrives as the world's best and the 2023 runner-up – and won the bronze medal on Saturday. He had to admit defeat to Ryan Crouser (USA) and Uziel Munoz (Mexico), but was still delighted with his medal.
