800 ensure a running festival in the Dolomites
On Saturday, the 28th South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run took place in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Around 800 runners from 25 nations participated in the start in Sesto. The victories were taken by Kenyan runner Elija Kamau Kariuki and Sara Bottarelli from Brescia.

Shortly after the start, Kariuki took the lead and steadily extended his lead. He reached the finish line at the Dreizinnenhütte (1 meters) in 30.41,8:2.405 hours, 39 seconds ahead of Italian Tiziano Moia. Kenyan James Thuo Irungu completed the podium in third place (+3.12,3:XNUMX minutes).
Samuel Demetz from Castelrotto finished as the best South Tyrolean in sixth place (+5.35,8), followed by Lukas Gasser from Rasen/Antholz in seventh place (+5.59). Giacomo Spinelli from Brunico also made it into the top ten, finishing eighth (+8.34,1).

In the women's race, victory went to Sara Bottarelli. For the runner from Brescia, it was already her fifth victory in this prestigious mountain race. Local hero Agnes Tschurtschenthaler (SV Niederdorf) took second place (+2.42,2), while Severine Petersen, a German living in South Tyrol, finished third (+5.17). Katrin Sapelza of SV Taisten finished the race in tenth place (+14.41,0).
