In typical April weather, the starting gun fired at 19 p.m. at the town hall in Kardaun. The race continued to Karneid and finally along the Rittersteig trail to the finish in the village center of Steinegg.
For the organizers of ASV Steinegg, the premiere was a complete success. "For many of our runners from the community, this route is their weekly training route," explained section leader Florian Weissensteiner.
The curious thing: Within just a month and a half, the Steinegg running section decided to convert the training route into a competition course. The competition was launched in a flash and successfully held. "A big thank you goes to the entire ASV Steinegg team and the many volunteers who made this launch possible," said President Rudolf Lantschner.
Strong field, high level, positive outlook
With the fastest time of the day, 40:00 minutes, favorite Fabian Pichler secured the men's victory ahead of Armin Gögele (41:11) and Mikhail Mamleev (42:34). Anna Lena Hofer won the women's race with a strong time of 47:28, ahead of Edeltraud Thaler (50:40) and Lisa Stauder (53:07).Part of the OK team with section leader Florian Weissensteiner, Irmgard Lantschner, Helmut Lantschner, Patrick Lantschner (from left) © ASV Steinegg
In addition to the sporting aspect, those responsible were pleased with the smooth running of the event: "The response to the event was very positive. In addition to the sporting achievements, it's nice to see that the running community is growing and also creating shared experiences," said Weissensteiner. "We're already looking forward to the next edition."
