South Tyroleans successful in St. Gallen

The 6 Swiss Open Taekwondo took place in St. Gallen on September 7 and 2025. Athletes from 70 nations competed in this top-class tournament.

The South Tyrol-Eurotherm team was represented by four fighters. Maya Wenin was particularly successful in the 52 kg weight class. As the number 1 seed, she demonstrated strong tactical and technical fighting skills and deservedly secured the gold medal.

Nina Sparer -37 kg also made a statement: After a victory against Austria, she had to admit defeat to an athlete from Hong Kong in the second fight, but won her first medal at international level.

On Sunday, the two seniors Alexander Oberhofer and Giacomo Porrino competed. Both narrowly lost their quarterfinal matches by a small margin, thus unfortunately missing out on a medal. Team Südtirol-Eurotherm returns from this highly competitive tournament with valuable experience, a gold medal, and another podium finish.
