Taekwondo: Strong results at the Italian Championships

The Taekwondo athletes from ASV Zadra-Fighting/Rothoblaas returned from the FITA-CONI Italian Taekwondo Masters Championships in Jesolo with a strong overall result. The team secured a total of four medals.

Markus Zadra won the title in the heavyweight division for black belts over 80 kilograms. At 60 years old, Zadra was also the oldest participant in the entire tournament. Gabriele Cera won the silver medal in the black belt division up to 80 kilograms, crowning his season with the title of Italian Vice Champion.


Bronze went to Toni Gurndin in the black belt over 80 kg category. After several years away from competition, he returned to the mat and narrowly missed qualifying for the final with a score of 25:25. Another silver medal was won by Karl Mall in the red belt category (one grade below black belt). The athlete, who trains in Kurtatsch but competes for a club in Giovo, impressed with a strong performance in the heavyweight division.
