Antonelli writes fairy tales in Miami

Kimi Antonelli experienced a magical highlight of his young career at the Miami Grand Prix. The 18-year-old Italian raced to pole position in sprint qualifying late Friday evening.

Kimi Antonelli obtained his driver's license at the beginning of the year, and now the Formula 1 sorcerer's apprentice is in the spotlight of the motorsport world. On Friday evening, Antonelli excelled in sprint qualifying in Miami, snatching the first pole position of his career in a thrilling battle. In the Florida heat, the Mercedes driver from Bologna narrowly prevailed ahead of World Championship leader Oscar Piastri (2nd/+0,045 seconds) and his McLaren teammate Lando Norris (3rd/+0,100). World Champion Max Verstappen, who recently became a father, finished fourth (+0,255). His teammate Yuki Tsunoda failed in the first session (18th).

Ferrari, on the other hand, didn't make as much progress. Charles Leclerc finished sixth (+0,326), with record world champion Lewis Hamilton right behind him (+0,548). The sprint race takes place on Saturday evening at 18.00:22.00 PM, and qualifying for pole position for Sunday's race (22.00:XNUMX PM) begins in Miami.
