Hamilton's first appearance in the new Ferrari

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, like his teammate Charles Leclerc, completed his first laps in the new Ferrari SF-25 on Wednesday.

A number of fans were at the track to see the newcomer to the "Scuderia" behind the wheel. The day before, the car, like the cars of the other nine world championship teams, had been presented at a gala in London. Ferrari is aiming for its first world championship title since 2008, and the official test drives will take place next week in Bahrain.

"Today is a big day for me," said the 40-year-old Hamilton. "I know I needed something new, a new challenge." The former Mercedes driver only realized how much he needed this change after switching to Ferrari.

"Every day when I go to work I have a big smile on my face. We're at the track until 22pm and it looks like nobody wants to go home," said the Brit, who is working with physio Angela Cullen again, referring to the enthusiasm in the team. "We're working together on something really exciting."
