Hamilton grateful for sympathy after death of dog Roscoe

Formula 1 record world champion Lewis Hamilton has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of sympathy following the death of his beloved dog Roscoe.

"It's heartwarming to see how many people around the world Roscoe has touched," said the 40-year-old upon arriving in the Singapore paddock. The weekend before the Night Grand Prix, the bulldog died after suffering a cardiac arrest and being in a coma for days.

"Many people around the world have gone through something like this and know what it's like to have a pet that gives you so much love. It's a wonderful experience," said Hamilton. Roscoe has accompanied Hamilton since 2013. He quickly became a star in the paddock. Recently, the British magazine "Vogue" dedicated a lengthy article to Hamilton and Roscoe. "I lost my best friend," Hamilton wrote after the dog's death.

Hopes for a turnaround in Singapore

The Ferrari driver reported that he had received many messages from other drivers, the Formula 1 teams, the FIA, and the racing series' management. "It was truly overwhelming," the Briton said. He is now looking forward to getting back in the car.

Hamilton said he wouldn't dedicate a good result at the Singapore race solely to Roscoe. "There are a lot of people who deserve a good result from me and this team. The Tifosi and all the people who have checked in with me and supported me all year, but especially in the last week," explained the seven-time world champion. Since joining Ferrari before this season, Hamilton is still waiting for his first podium finish in a Grand Prix.
