Norris sets the tone in the final Canadian practice

Lando Norris set the fastest time in the final Formula 1 practice session before qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Great Britain's World Championship runner-up drove his McLaren around the Montreal circuit in 1:11,799 minutes, finishing just 0,078 seconds ahead of Monaco's Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari. George Russell finished third in the Mercedes. World champion Max Verstappen finished fifth in the Red Bull.

World Championship leader Oscar Piastri made a rare mistake, destroying his right rear wheel when he touched the track barrier. Nico Hülkenberg also had a lucky escape at the legendary Wall of Champions. The German spun his Sauber but avoided a hard impact before qualifying that evening (22.00:XNUMX p.m.).

McLaren favored

The wall after the chicane before the finish straight is notorious because in the past world champions such as Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Sebastian Vettel have crashed into it and been eliminated after their crashes.
