The Gresini rider won by 2,676 seconds over KTM's Pedro Acosta, who made it onto the podium for the fourth time this season. His fellow Spaniard Joan Mir finished third in Malaysia. Pole-sitter and sprint winner Francesco Bagnaia retired from third place with three laps to go due to a tire puncture.
Already in the second lap, Marquez caught Bagnaia and went on to a commanding victory. "I was smart enough to attack and be aggressive when it was necessary. I saw the situation and knew: This is the key," said Marquez, who crashed twice on Friday. In addition to Acosta, Enea Bastianini (7th) and Brad Binder (9th) also scored points for KTM. Marc Marquez, who has already been confirmed as world champion, has already ended his season due to injury.
All clear after serious collision in Moto3
Meanwhile, Moto3 was overshadowed by a serious collision. Swiss rider Noah Dettwiler had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter. Even before the race started, Dettwiler appeared to have a problem with his KTM and was cruising along the side of the track when World Champion Jose Antonio Rueda slammed into his rear end with full force.A serious accident occurred in Moto3. © ANSA / FAZRY ISMAIL
According to official information, both riders are conscious. KTM race manager Jens Hainbach gave the all-clear, saying that Dettwiler has "a severe concussion and perhaps also a broken bone in his hand, but apparently nothing really serious," Hainbach said on ServusTV.Edit Profile
