Marc Marquez triumphed at the Qatar Grand Prix, securing his first victory in Lusail since 2014 – despite a spectacular incident in the first corner. After a collision with his brother Alex, which resulted in visible damage to his Ducati, the six-time world champion demonstrated exceptional nerves of steel. With a clever tire strategy and two fastest laps at the finish, he left his rivals no chance and confidently drove to the finish line for a well-deserved victory.
Maverick Viñales also delivered a strong race: He temporarily took the lead on his KTM, but had to settle for second place after a minor riding error. Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium, while Alex Marquez received a long-lap penalty after another incident with Fabio Di Giannantonio and ultimately finished only seventh. The race was also overshadowed by the crash of reigning world champion Jorge Martin, who slid off the track during his comeback, suffering bruised ribs and a pneumothorax. His participation in the next race is currently in doubt.

With today's victory, Marc Marquez further extends his lead in the overall standings and now has 123 points, well ahead of his brother Alex, who has 105. Bagnaia remains within striking distance with 93 points, keeping his title hopes alive. The 2025 MotoGP season remains highly exciting – and all eyes are already on the next race weekend in Jerez, where Marquez will aim to once again demonstrate his strong form.Edit Profile
