Motorcycle rider no longer in critical condition after horrific crash

Swiss motorcycle racer Noah Dettwiler is no longer in critical condition after his serious accident at the Moto3 race in Malaysia.

The 20-year-old is in stable and no longer critical condition, his management, team, and family announced, citing his doctors. Dettwiler, who had previously undergone several successful surgeries, will remain closely monitored in the intensive care unit.

Before the start of the Moto3 race in Sepang on Sunday, Dettwiler was riding slowly along the side of the track during the warm-up lap. Spanish world champion Jose Antonio Rueda (19) failed to see his opponent and crashed at full speed into the back of the Swiss rider, who was thrown from his machine and slammed onto the concrete track.

Father reported cardiac arrests

As his father Andy Dettwiler told the Swiss newspaper View Dettwiler Sr. said his son suffered "several cardiac arrests" and "lost a lot of blood. They fought for his life." According to the father, the spleen and lungs were also affected, and the son has an open fracture of the leg.

Rueda, who like Dettwiler was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in the nearby capital Kuala Lumpur, escaped with a broken hand and bruises. His team, Red Bull KTM Ajo, wrote on X“We send all our best wishes to Noah, his family and the members of CIO Green Power. Get well soon, mate.”
