Team Autotest Motorsport triumphs in Slovenia

The start of the 5th “Mahle Eco Rally” took place on the Slovenian-Italian border line in front of the Nova Gorica train station, and the approximately 50 meter long route on Italian soil had something symbolic. In a difficult and winding race, a team and a driver from Italy returned to winning ways. A first place that had not been seen in this discipline for exactly three years, when the Autotest Motorsport team with Fuzzy Kofler and Franco Gaioni won in, of all places, Slovenia. Back then, the Pole Artur Prusak was one of the opponents, while today, as a co-driver, he made an important contribution to the victory of the South Tyrolean team and the Tuscan Guido Guerrini. The race got off to a great start, as the South Tyrolean car sponsored by K-Motor Kia Bozen and Ray Guard was already in the lead on the first special stage and until the end of the first day of racing. A technical problem seemed to jeopardize the sporting performance, but thanks to the experience of Guerrini and Prusak, supported from afar by the rest of the team, they managed to limit the damage and finish second behind the Slovenian hosts Špacapan-Kobal . The success came thanks to the fourth place of the Kia from the Autotest Motorsport team in the special fuel consumption ranking. The two results together resulted in the best score of all participating teams. World champion Eneko Conde with Lukas Sergnese came second and the other Spaniards Carlos Sergnese and Laura Bermudez came third. Now the world championship is open again and the Autotest Motorsport drivers have moved up to second place. K-Motor's Kia e-Niro, on the other hand, extended its lead in the manufacturers' standings by overtaking its direct competitors. With three races still remaining - in the Basque Country, Monte Carlo and the Dolomites - the championship could still have some interesting surprises in store.
