Black weekend for Mutschlechner in Mugello

Max Mutschlechner is clearly leading the overall Open GT class standings. After securing pole position in qualifying at the historic Mugello race track, an early overall victory seemed within reach. However, in the first of two sprint races, the pole-sitter was involved in an accident on the first lap. In the scramble shortly after the start, Mutschlechner touched a competitor and was hit by the spinning car.
His Porsche 992 GT3 Cup was so badly damaged that the number 216 car couldn't even start the second sprint. "It's obviously a shame to lose two races and thus important championship points because of a crash like that. No driver gives up on the first lap; things like that can happen," Mutschlechner said, reflecting on the 0-0 finish at Mugello.
It remains exciting
At least the driver of the racing team “Porsche Zentrum 5 Seen Motorsport” from Bavaria remains at the top of the overall standings, also because his closest rival, Ahmad Alemadi (Switzerland), did not manage to get beyond eighth and twelfth place. The season finale at the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in Misano, Italy, will therefore see a showdown for the overall victory on October 18. The program includes two sprint races and the two-hour night race.
