On Sunday, Vienna-born Mirko Bortolotti, who drives with an Italian license, finished second in his Lamborghini behind the German winner Luca Engstler to secure first place in the overall standings, 17 points ahead of the twelfth-placed driver, Kelvin van der Linde (Audi) from South Africa.
Bortolotti went into Sunday two points behind Saturday's winner Van der Linde, regained the top position in qualifying and ultimately defended it confidently. It was a first not only for the son of the well-known Viennese ice cream parlor dynasty, who had to settle for second place in 2023. Lamborghini was also able to celebrate the title in the DTM for the first time. In a sense, he will stay in Austria; in 2023, Linz-based Thomas Preining grabbed the trophy. This year, Porsche driver Preining finished fifth overall.
