The final of the national PRS (Precision Rifle Shooting) championship was also valid for the European Pro Series championships and lasted two full days. The best shooters from 14 nations took part and fought for medals in one of the most beautiful facilities in Europe in Collesalvetti near Livorno. Shooting took place at distances of 200 to 1000 meters.
Although things didn't go well for Markus Zadra on the first day, he made up ground by the end of the day and shone with a great performance on the second day. The reason for the problems on the first day was that the optics were set too low and the ballistics were not calculated correctly. This was discovered by the German professional shooter Josef Sixt. The promoter of the international event and head of PRS Italy, Davide Pisenti, also encouraged the 59-year-old Kurtatscher that nothing was lost and that he should concentrate on the second day. New cards, new game. And that's exactly what happened. The second day was almost the perfect day for Markus Zadra, on which he was able to deliver one of his best performances ever.
In the end, the Kurtatscher won bronze in this competition in the senior class. The big success for Markus Zadra, however, is the excellent second place in the overall ranking of the PRS Championship 2024 behind the Austrian Stefan Zeindl.
