Premier League & Darts World Cup: England is working on fan return

The world darts association PDC confirmed the date for the World Cup (December 15th to January 3rd) and the venue in London, where, despite various rumors, the game will be played again in the traditional Alexandra Palace. After the British government announced on Monday a partial return of spectators from December 2nd, the PDC is hoping to also welcome fans to the most important darts tournament of the year.

PDC boss Barry Hearn said: "Monday's announcement means that we can intensify our discussions with the responsible bodies in order to play the World Cup in front of an audience in Great Britain for the first time since March." There will only be a break between the start and the final at the three Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. A total of 3 sessions over 28 days are planned at the venue called “Ally Pally” until January 16rd. After the championship games were interrupted due to the corona pandemic at the beginning of March, the Premier League had only played ghost games since it restarted on June 19th. According to the Premier League, the goal remains to work with the government to bring attendance numbers to a higher level. “Until this is possible, many fans will not be able to attend games and our clubs will continue to stage games at a financial loss,” the league association wrote.
