17-year-old Maximilian Taucher from Vorarlberg successfully defended his junior wheelchair tennis title at Roland Garros on Friday. He defeated Charlie Cooper of the USA 6-2, 7-6 (3) and also won the doubles match with the American in the afternoon. "I'm very proud; Roland Garros is one of the biggest tournaments there is."

His South Tyrolean coach, Maximilian Forer from Innichen, who has lived in Vorarlberg for twelve years, was also proud, and that's something that can't be overlooked. He has been working with Taucher since 2020. "Maxi's goal is to be in the top ten one day. If he becomes a better athlete and a better tennis player, then that will happen naturally."
