The world's number one tennis player must have asked himself this question when he headed straight home on Monday. The day after his five-set loss at Roland Garros to Carlos Alcaraz, he traveled to South Tyrol with his mother Siglinde.
Jannik Sinner stepped off a private jet at Bolzano Airport shortly before 16 p.m. on Monday, having previously taken off from Le Bourget near Paris. His father, Hanspeter, and his dog were already waiting in the reception hall at St. Jakob. Sinner couldn't be there in Paris because he had to work from home, as Sinner revealed after the final.

Before the 23-year-old got into his car at the airport, he patiently posed for a handful of selfies. "He was in a good mood and very polite," Davide Montibeller, manager of the airport restaurant Carrettai Fly, was quoted as saying in various media outlets. He also took the opportunity to take a souvenir photo with the surprise guest.

The Sinner family then departed for Sesto, where the world number one will spend the next few days recovering from his recent exertions. "My family will help me with this," Sinner had already said in Paris. "We are a very simple family. Success hasn't changed that."

The three-time Grand Slam winner won't have much time to recover, however, as he's already heading off to Germany this weekend. He'll be putting the finishing touches on his Wimbledon performance at the grass-court tournament in Halle next week. Sinner aims to avenge his recent final defeat at the world's most important tennis tournament in early July.
