After Nadal: Djokovic also gets his museum

Novak Djokovic will have his own museum in his hometown of Belgrade. This was announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic himself, leaving no doubt as to who he considers the true king of tennis.

"Novak is bigger than Nadal," said Vucic. The museum is expected to open in 2027 and is set to become a true mecca for tennis fans. It will not only celebrate the 37-year-old Serb's impressive career, but will also shed light on his role as a national idol and international sports icon.

Djokovic recently perfected his career and won the gold medal in the men's singles at the Olympic Games in ParisFor the world number one, this gold medal is the crowning achievement of his sporting life's work and possibly also his last chance for Olympic gold.

Although Djokovic's sporting successes can be described as heroic deeds, the superstar is not without controversy. Whether it is his statements during the corona pandemic, the political messages at the 2023 French Open or his arguments with the audience - Djokovic polarizes like no other. Nevertheless, he remains unchallenged in Serbia: "Even though I am the one who now owns this medal, I want every Serb to know that it belongs to all of us," the tennis star proudly announced after his Olympic victory.

With the planned museum in Belgrade, Djokovic follows in the footsteps of Rafael Nadal, in whose honor a museum is also dedicated on his home island of Mallorca.
