Tennis star Fognini attacks opponent: “You little pig”

At the ATP 250 tournament in Stuttgart, Italian tennis ace Fabio Fognini lost his nerve and insulted his opponent.

When two hotheads clash, things can get heated. This happened at the grass-court tournament in Stuttgart, where Fabio Fognini and Corentin Moutet delivered a thrilling three-set first-round match – and a falling out at the end.

When Moutet converted his match point and then high-fived Fognini at the net, everything initially seemed peaceful. But then Fognini's nerves snapped. The Italian shouted after his opponent in French: "Look at me! Look at me, you little pig!"

Moutet ignored Fognini's words and headed toward his bench. Fognini then hurled another insult at him: "Sei una merda," which translates to "You're a piece of shit."

What exactly triggered Fognini's outburst is unclear. However, Moutet is said to have provoked him several times during the match. Both professionals are known in the tennis world as hotheads. In 2021, Fognini was disqualified in Barcelona for insulting a line judge. Moutet made headlines last March when he almost came to blows on the court with Alexander Bublik.
