Water or Coke? The slightly different questions to Sinner

Jannik Sinner's return home as Australian Open winner and newly crowned number 1 in the tennis world was celebrated in Sexten on Tuesday. The star of the day made the audience in the tennis hall laugh again and again.

After the reception at the town hall square, the Sinner-Mania on Tuesday afternoon in the tennis hall in Sexten. Only invited guests were allowed to attend. Around 400 children from various tennis clubs in the Pustertal, some invited guests (such as politicians) and the many volunteers, journalists and cameramen. The remaining fans were offered a public viewing in front of the hall with a screen on which Sinners' performance was broadcast. The highlight of the day was when the 22-year-old answered some personal questions that the children on stage asked him.

First there were a few either/or questions. Sinner had some surprising answers ready. For example, the ski lover prefers winter to summer. When it comes to music bands, the South Tyrolean had to turn down the Kastelruther Spatzen. He preferred the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. Sinner is normally known for his healthy lifestyle. When asked whether he preferred water or cola, the full-time professional opted for the world-famous soft drink. Afterwards, laughter went through the tennis hall.

Sinner doesn't have much use for the board game "Ludo". He prefers the South Tyrolean card game "Watten". Sinner also still enjoys playing the video game Fortnite, which is particularly popular among young people: "I'm not so good at it, though." Sinner spends up to 4 hours a day on the tennis court. In addition, he does strength training in the gym and has meetings with trainers and treatments with a physiotherapist. In total, he says he spends around 7 hours a day on his job. On top of that, he also needs sleep, which is extremely important for a professional athlete. Especially for regeneration.

School wasn't his thing

Otherwise, he prefers Lionel Messi to Cristiano Ronaldo. Sinner used to be a big Moto GP fan when Valentino Rossi was still active. In Formula 1, he supports Charles Leclerc because he has always been a Ferrari fan. He says he has no musical talent at all. And what was Sinner like at school otherwise? "I was good in primary school. In middle school, things really went well and in high school, nothing went well anymore (laughs). But just work hard at school," said Sinner to the many enthusiastic children. They will probably not forget this day any time soon.
