A new wind is blowing in local skiing

Until now, the President of the South Tyrolean Winter Sports Association, Hermann Ambach, was also responsible for alpine skiing. After eight years, he hands over this task to Markus Ortler. The 43-year-old from Mals can rely on a wealth of experience, having worked at national level for a long time and even looked after the women's World Cup team in the 2006/07 season. “We are not going to make any major changes now. The primary aim is to improve cooperation between the state committee and the individual clubs. This is the only way we can keep up with the other regions of Italy, which are close to overtaking us at the national level. We have to stop the decline in the number of young skiers in order to be successful in the long term,” explains Ortler.

Heini Pfitscher and Hannes Trenker take over as trainers

The first news concerns the coaching positions: Heini Pfitscher, who most recently looked after the C national team, will return to the national team and act as head coach for the men. Trudner will be assisted by Alexander Guadagnini, who was on the women's coaching staff last season. Hannes Trenker will continue to be in charge there. He will be in charge together with Karl Heinz Goller. Tobias Mairhofer, on the other hand, will take care of the physical aspects.

State squad: 12 boys, 10 girls The state winter sports association has already chosen the members of the state squad. The boys' twelve-man squad includes Maximilan Messner, Simon Maurberger, Christoph Atz, Hannes Zingerle, Patrick Renner, Florian Schieder and Luis Kuppelwieser, seven athletes who were already selected last winter. New additions include Philipp Pixner, Alexander Prast, Dominik Yuech, Tobias Heel and Fritz Lintner. Ten athletes will continue to compete among the girls. In addition to the confirmed Melissa Perathoner, Karin Frener, Miriam Kirchler, Sabine Krautgasser, Maria Nairz and Nicole Delago, Miriam Gabloner, Vivien Insam, Nadia Delago and Verena Tschurtschenthaler were also accepted.

Confirmations in the other winter sports disciplines

The regional association has also announced the coaches of the other winter sports disciplines. Most of these were confirmed in their positions, apart from Tobias Scheuring and Matthias Fabbro, who will take over the freestylers in the ski and snowboard sections respectively.
