Braathen leads in Levi – Vinatzer eliminated
Thanks to a truly fantastic run, Lucas Braathen is in first place in the slalom in Levi (FIN). The other favorites follow behind, although the time gaps are already relatively large.

Only six skiers managed to stay within one second of each other in the first run in Levi. Behind the leader Braathen, these were Clement Noel (+0,41), Timon Haugan (+0,49), Linus Strasser (+0,85), Eduard Hallberg (+0,90) and Atle Lie McGrath (+0,96).
The clear favorite for the first victory of the new slalom World Cup season is Braathen. The Brazilian was in a class of his own, especially in the middle section, and his four-tenths of a second lead is nothing to scoff at. ORFHowever, Braathen dampened expectations (for now) in an interview: "In slalom, the first and second runs are like two different races. That's the beauty of this sport."
Surprise man at home race – Vinatzer out
Eduard Hallberg caused a surprise in Levi. The Finn, starting with bib number 29, finished in 5th place, just nine-tenths of a second behind Braathen. The 22-year-old will need to confirm this performance in the final. His best result to date was 15th place in Schladming in January 2025.The race didn't go so well for Alex Vinatzer. The Val Gardena native was doing well, but didn't finish. Of the first 30 runners, Vinatzer was the only one (!) who didn't cross the finish line.
