Dominik Paris: “I’m optimistic that nothing serious is wrong”

Following a training crash in Copper Mountain (USA), Dominik Paris is doubtful for the speed event opener on Thursday. However, it is not believed to be a serious injury.

Dominik Paris crashed during giant slalom training in Copper Mountain on Monday. The skier from Ultental collided with a gate and injured his ankle. However, the injury to his left ankle is not believed to be too serious, as Paris stated in a press release issued by the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) on Tuesday.

“I’m optimistic that nothing’s broken in the end,” said Paris. If that’s the case, then it just takes patience, the South Tyrolean speed star added. “Right now it’s still a bit painful, so I’m receiving round-the-clock treatment. I have to take it day by day and see how the therapy is working.”

The fact is, Paris doesn't have much time left before the first speed race of the new World Cup season. A Super-G is scheduled for Thursday (19 p.m. CET) in Copper Mountain. The World Cup races will take place in Beaver Creek next week. Paris is currently unable to train.
