It's now official: Val Gardena will get another race

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) announced on Friday that a third speed race will take place as part of the 58th Saslong Classic in Val Gardena on the last weekend before Christmas.

The men's Ski World Cup is in Beaver Creek this week. The originally planned race program in Colorado (USA) cannot be completed in its entirety. A second downhill race had to be canceled. This race will be rescheduled for Val Gardena, which is stepping in as a replacement venue. A sprint downhill will be held on Thursday, December 18th. This sprint downhill will open the 58th Saslong Classic. The Super-G will take place on Friday, December 19th, and the classic downhill on Saturday, December 20th. All races start at 11:45 a.m.

“I am, of course, very sorry for my colleagues in Beaver Creek. It is always very painful for an organizer when a race cannot be held. For us, it means that, as in 2022 and 2023, we will have a total of three speed events on the Saslong. I would like to thank not only the FIS for their vote of confidence, but also all our stakeholders for their swift support in this exceptional situation,” says Rainer Senoner, President of the Saslong Classic Club.
