Lindsey Vonn: At home, but still sad

Ski queen Lindsey Vonn has put the Olympic nightmare somewhat behind her and returned home. However, she is met with a sad reality there.

Lindsey Vonn has had a terrible few weeks. At the Olympic Games, the American ski star suffered a serious fall, sustaining extremely complicated fractures in her lower leg. Vonn subsequently underwent multiple surgeries and later revealed that doctors had saved her leg from amputation.

The 41-year-old is now back in the USA; she was discharged from the hospital a few days ago and allowed to return home. The ski queen has now written an emotional message. "Home sweet home! It feels good to sleep in my own bed again," said Vonn, who is also sad. She lost her beloved dog Leo the day after her brutal fall in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

“Walking through the front door without Leo greeting me as usual was a very harsh reality. A reality I had to face. Along with many other difficult realities that lie ahead as I continue on my path,” Vonn said.

The American woman gives another update: “Now I’m focusing on therapy and getting healthy again. It will be a tough and painful journey, but I’m putting all my energy into it – as I always do. I’m going to take some time for myself now.”
