Marcel Hirscher's new girlfriend remains a secret

Marcel Hirscher attracted attention on Tuesday. The currently injured ski superstar was the big celebrity guest at the night giant slalom in Schladming, to which he came with a companion.

It was a highlight of the 2024 sports year: Marcel Hirscher returned to the ski circus after a five-year break. However, the comeback euphoria only lasted a short time. After tearing his cruciate ligament in training, the superstar had to announce the end of his season at the beginning of December. Hirscher was quiet for a long time, but the 35-year-old stepped back into the spotlight at the legendary night classic in Schladming. "I'm doing well considering the circumstances. But it's not fun and an experience that I don't necessarily have to have," he said in an interview with Kleine Zeitung.

Hirscher attended the night giant slalom, which was won by Norwegian Alexander Steen Olsen, not alone. His new girlfriend was also there. Last August it became official that the eight-time overall World Cup winner was in love again after divorcing his wife Laura Moisl in 2021. Hirscher was spotted in the pedestrian zone of Amsterdam at the side of a dark-haired beauty and confirmed shortly afterwards that he was taken.

“It was important to me to show her my world.” Marcel Hirscher

The new girlfriend was of course a topic of conversation in Schladming. But Hirscher - as is often the case with private topics - kept a low profile. When asked who his girlfriend was, Hirscher replied: "Nobody. We are private and I want to leave it at that." However, the Salzburg native also said: "It was important to me to show her my world. You have to have been there once to know what it's about. You can talk a lot at home, but it makes a difference when you see it live."

Will Hirscher come back again?

The plan was actually different, says Hirscher. "I wanted to drive down there myself. That's not the case now, we're just here now. That's all there is to report. I want to carry on living as before and have my privacy."

Hirscher also spoke about his sporting future, of course. He has not ruled out another comeback. "The passion will definitely remain. The primary goal is to become as fit as I have always been. That is the minimum. Then I can make further decisions. But my knee has to cooperate and it has to heal."
