The best season of Federica Brignone's career ended with a horrific injury. In her fall at the Italian Championships on the San Pellegrino Pass, the 34-year-old suffered a double fracture with dislocation of the tibial plateau and fibular head, as well as a torn cruciate ligament in her left leg. An injury that will require a lengthy rehabilitation period to regain her former strength.
Brignone also knows this, writing on social media on Saturday: "One month since the accident. Everything is going well, every day I'm taking a small step forward." The athlete from the Aosta Valley attached photos showing her rehab at JMedical. Jannik Sinner, among others, has also recovered from injuries at the Juventus football club's medical center in the past.
Brignone doesn't give up
"Thank you to everyone who accompanied me in rehab, who visited me this month, who spent time with me, to everyone who gave me sweets, flowers, books, or sent me messages. My goal now is to be able to walk again," the Italian concludes her message.Federica Brignone in rehab.
The message she's sending is unmistakable: Brignone isn't throwing in the towel and wants to return to the World Cup slopes as soon as possible. Especially since the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo are coming up next year.
