Nadia Delago demonstrates in training

This weekend, the women's speed races are on the program in Tarvisio (Italy). Nadia Delago already showed promise in the first downhill training run.

Nadia Delago finished fourth on Thursday. Just a week earlier in Zauchensee, the Val Gardena native had been fast in training and ultimately finished 18th in the race. This was her best World Cup result this winter.

The fastest by far in the first downhill training run was the injury-plagued Austrian Nina Ortlieb, who beat the German Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and her compatriot Cornelia Hütter by about seven-tenths of a second. Delago was even 1,4 seconds behind Ortlieb.

Laura Pirovano was the second-best Italian, finishing eleventh. Nadia's older sister, Nicol Delago, came in seventeenth. Top favorites Lindsey Vonn (seventh) and Sofia Goggia (24th) have yet to show their true potential. Another training run is scheduled for Friday in Tarvisio, followed by a downhill race on Saturday (17:7 a.m.) and a Super-G on Sunday (10.45:11.15 a.m.).
